Translation / Edition / Proofreading

As a profesional translator, I am trained to translate from English into French. I can also edit or proofread your documents in French.

Edition involves working on a document which has already been translated (or directly written) in French, taking accuracy, grammar and style into account.

Proofreading can be thought of as a lighter form of editing, checking the text for accuracy and grammar, but leaving style aside.

Consulting & Research

I have spent several years researching translation policies and practices in the cultural sector.

If you are thinking about getting some visitor-facing documents translated but are not sure where to start, I can help you in designing a translation policy to ensure consistency accross your organisation.

I can help you make decisions based on the analysis of existing visitor data. Or, I can help you design a protocol to collect new data to inform your decision.

If you are looking to get material translated into languages other than French, I can help you identify suitable translators and/or design a call to tender.

Training

I have taught translation and interpreting at the Universities of Strathclyde and Dundee in Scotland.

As a researcher, I have presented my work at conferences and events across Scotland and Europe.

I have also delivered tailored training to in-house staff in translation agencies and to freelance translator colleagues.
